We are ready and eager to provide the UVA community with fitness and recreational opportunities once the University is able to return to comprehensive operations safely and effectively. When we initially open, we will start with the fitness area at the AFC and the pool at NGRC. The hours and experience will be modified to ensure safety for students, members and staff. We will announce opening details as soon as possible.

Personal Training

Get a fitness plan uniquely crafted to help you reach your goals. Our fitness professionals develop a program specifically designed for you! Our trainers will help you maximize your workout and minimize your risk of injury.

Personal Training

Personal training is one-on-one instruction with a nationally certified personal trainer that incorporates exercise screening, goal-setting and health education. Following a fitness consultation, the trainer will design a challenging workout routine specifically designed for your individual needs. Your personal trainer is there to instruct you on proper lifting techniques, introduce you to exercises that target your specific goals and motivate you towards your full potential.

We offer Personal Training in three formats: One-On-One, Partner & Small Group.

One-On-One Training

These sessions are extremely beneficial for those who prefer ongoing personal instruction, motivation and support. Your trainer will customize sessions for you that may include weight machines, free weights, cardio equipment, flexibility, core, balance training and TRX (Total Body Resistance eXercise).

All new participants must complete a Fitness Assessment prior to beginning training. A Fitness Assessment is sold separately and is required to determine current fitness level, training goals and strategy for improvement.

Small Group Training

Fitness Assessment

To reach your goals, you have to know where you're starting from. Fitness assessments are used to determine current fitness level, training goals and strategy for improvement. The Fitness Assessment is a 30-45 minute meeting that includes the following: Resting measurements, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and discussion based on client goals, exercise/medical history, client needs and wants, etc. This assessment is REQUIRED for new clients to the UVA Personal Training program.

During your fitness assessment, you'll be asked to complete a Statement of Understanding and Release. The Fitness staff will contact you within 3-5 business days with registration confirmation and additional information.
