The University has a great responsibility to its students, faculty and staff when considering the return to full operations. We are ready and eager to provide the UVA community with fitness and recreational opportunities once the University is able to return to comprehensive operations safely and effectively. We are privileged to support this University and we believe in its greater mission. We're all in this together! If you have questions, please reach out to covidinformation@virginia.edu.

When we initially open, we will start with the fitness area at the AFC and the pool at NGRC. The hours and experience will be modified to ensure safety for students, members and staff. We will announce opening details as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please try some virtual programs.

The Aquatic & Fitness Center is the biggest fitness center on Grounds and is home to the UVA Swimming and Diving Teams. In addition to a comprehensive array of fitness equipment, it features an indoor track, Olympic-sized pool, warm water pool, hot tub and sauna.

Customer Service

At the AFC Service Desk, you can check out a locker, rent a towel, buy Group Exercise passes or buy a guest pass. Upstairs in our Business Office (M-F 9-5:30), you can purchase or renew your membership, update payroll information or register for programs including personal training, instructional class, intramural sports or outdoor adventures.

Parking Information

There are designated parking lots with metered spaces adjacent to The Aquatic & Fitness Center. VERY IMPORTANT: Between 7:30am and 5pm, note your license plate number and enter it into the parking kiosk in the facility lobby.
