In this group class, you'll progress through the primary series of Ashtanga yoga at your own pace with hands-on instruction from the leader. With a focus on breathing, explanation of the poses with modifications and gazing point; you can expect to build up a sweat, while developing strength, flexibility and mindfulness. Offered in partnership with the Contemplative Sciences Center. These drop-in classes are free for all UVA students, faculty, staff and other UVA affiliates who have an IM-REC membership. All levels and experiences welcome including those who have no prior yoga experience. Each class explores a slightly different style of yoga practice. No RSVP required.
