Facility Operations Supervisor

- Arrive to work prepared to represent the Department with appropriate dress code and identification
- Establish a service focused rapport and relationship with Student and Departmental Staff, Members and Guest of the Facility
- Promote Exceptional Customer Service to create a positive environment for members and guests
- Take Initiative, be proactive, and be confident in decision making
Fitness and Instruction
Group Fitness Instructor
- Experience leading group exercise classes
- Excellent verbal communication
- Hold a national certification in group exercise instruction or specialty course
- Knowledgeable on appropriate exercises for all populations
- Willingness to learn and adapt as new tasks and opportunities arise
Personal Trainer
- Experience writing exercise programs and leading one-on-one training sessions
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Hold a national certification in personal training
- Knowledgeable on appropriate exercises for all populations
- Willingness to learn and adapt as new tasks and opportunities arise
Intramural Sports
Sports Official
- Assist with venue set-up and take-down
- Assist in the signing-up of Intramural teams and verification of their eligibility
- Assist in examining facility for safety hazards
- Officiate Intramural contests and enforce the rules as judiciously as possible
- Oversee the Intramural contest and ensure participation takes place in a safe manner

Supervisor
- Assist in pre-game duties, including assigning Intramural Officials to their partners and their field/court
- Complete necessary online daily reports
- Oversee Intramural contests and ensure participation takes place in a safe manner
- Diffuse any potential issues involving participants, coaches, and spectators
- Provide training and support for the Intramural Officials
Aquatics
Lifeguard
- To supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations
- To warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards
- To rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide emergency care as needed

Swim Instructor
- Identify key elements and strategies for planning and preparing effective and safe swim lessons
- Identify key class management principles, elements and strategies for planning, preparing and conducting safe swim lessons
- Describe the importance of effective observation for teaching and how to develop these methods
- Develop the ability to effectively communicate about participant’s progress in swim lessons
- Modify teaching to meet unexpected challenges including dealing with participants who misbehave
Business Office
Office Assistant
- Serve as a primary customer service representative for the department
- Provide excellent customer service to UVA students, faculty, staff, dependents, and guests of the University
- Sell recreation memberships, programs, and other services, taking payment for services, and answering the telephone and walk in inquiries
- Resolve issues in a friendly and efficient manner
- Prepare reports including financial accountability, payroll deduction, membership retention, program registrations and other service reports
Outdoor Recreation
Supervisor
- To assist customers in outfitting trips by ensuring proper rentals of needed camping and paddling equipment
- To responsibly handle the monetary transactions of the outdoor recreation rental center according to PCI regulations and through the completion of the appropriate forms for rentals and refunds
- Monitor use the bouldering wall and ensure all users have completed the required Bouldering Orientation before climbing
- Don’t wait for someone to tell you what needs to be done. Look for things that you can do to be helpful to keep the ORC clean and well organized

Poplar Ridge Challenge Course Group Facilitator

Marketing Contributor
- Represent IM-Rec Sports at resource fairs, student activities, etc.
- Contribute dynamic content of various kinds to include photography, video, blogs and other social media posts
- Contribute consistently to Marketing Publication Calendar by researching, writing and collaborating with student and professional staff
- Participate in regular marketing team meetings

Graphic Designer
- Work in a multimedia, deadline-driven environment.
- We're looking for someone who is detail oriented, organized and able to work independently.
- Utilize Department marketing collateral (photos, logos, etc.) to create digital and social media and print graphics.
- Create original artwork/graphics for Department collateral (t-shirts, print publications, digital and social media).
Video Editor
- Work in a multimedia, deadline-driven environment.
- We're looking for someone who is detail oriented, organized and able to work independently.
- Utilize Department marketing video to create promotional videos within the Department's brand standards.
- Create original videos to promote the Department's mission and core values.
Photographer
- Work in a multimedia, deadline-driven environment
- Take high quality pictures of our program and facility events for promotional use in print and electronic media
- Represent the department at student activities and events and post videos and photos to social media
